The symposium will focus on wildfire management and prescribed fire on the west side of the North Cascades.  The primary purpose of the symposium is to identify research and practical constraints that can guide fire management policy development and implementation on public lands.  Ecological, social, wilderness, and communication issues will be addressed.  The audience will include university students, agency representatives, tribal representatives, researchers, elected officials, conservationists, the media, and others.
